We sat in a boat about 50 metres away from the glacier in case a large piece of ice broke off, creating a big wave. The noise of the ice cracking, shattering the isolated silence has to be heard to be believed.

My favourite picture. It was one of those moments when you see something beautiful unfolding in front of you and you're desperately trying to get the camera out of the bag. In the end, this was the only image I got before the boat (and the ripples) was gone. But in some ways I'm pleased there's only one.

Felt very lucky to find this shot. Everything came together - the position of the birds, the lines in the sea, the lines in the sky, how the rocks lead you towards Ailsa Craig. This is a very special part of the world.

My parents were staying at the Turnberry Hotel for a couple of days. One evening I sneaked in to join them for dinner. Every five minutes, however, I would jump up from the table and run outside to take pictures of Ailsa Craig as I could see the sky around it turning more and more purple.
